Day 28: The Past Year In Great Detail

Okay so honestly I have been dreading this post ever since I started this 30 days of posts thing which is why it is coming in so late, but here goes nothing....

August 2010 - I was just starting my sophomore year of college and surprisingly breaking out of my shell to make friends with some really awesome roomies... my dutch girls! Miss them so much. If we are also including the first half of August in this, I was able to take a nice trip to Glenwood Springs, CO with my mom and step pops. It was way fun! By far my favorite part was the river rafting/ropes course/ziplining day. It was amazing and I have been wanting to do another ropes course/zipline ever since. Maybe someday...
September 2010 - Um... Yeah, I really don't remember much about this month. I think it was just standard school, institute, roomie bonding and such... Not too much exciting.
October 2010 - Elder Warren left on his mission to NYC. This wouldn't seem like a big enough deal to make my blog since we weren't even speaking to each other, but it was huge to me. I mean, this kid broke my heart and I had spent the entire year trying to get over him and I thought for sure when he left on his mission it would make things easier, but it just didn't. What made it easier will come later on in this post.
November 2010 - This is the month I interviewed for and received my patriarchal blessing and limited use temple recommend. I felt good! I was also able to show my dutch roomies what Thanksgiving is and it was way fun taking them home with me and going shopping and such. This is the month they also invited me to go to NYC with them in December and somehow I managed to talk my mom into letting me go. Way cool!
December 2010 - By far the biggest month of my year... sorta. On December 3rd, I met Talls and the whole week following we spent just hanging out and getting to know each other. Then I left for NYC with my lovely Holland girls on the 10th. I loved loved loved NYC! I just feel sorry for them because I couldn't stop texting Talls the entire time I was there. I still feel way bad about that, but in a way I don't cuz all those hours of texts and phone calls really brought us closer together. My favorite part about NYC and the one thing I would do if I could only spend one more day there was the museum on 9/11. It was so emotional being there and seeing pictures and reading stories. It just brought everything about that day closer to home in the most amazing way possible. Ellis Island was also gorgeous! I got home from NYC on the 19th and my grandma died on Christmas and it was about time too... We are all super happy that she is with my grandpa again, right where she belongs :) And on the 27th, buddy made the 2 hour trip to come visit me. We had our first kiss on temple hill and then he told me he wanted to marry me so the rest of my month was occupied with crazy thoughts of marriage.
January 2010 - I came back down to start spring semester. Talls and I hung out all the time and made arrangements for the wedding like hiring a photographer and I got my dress. That was all before he officially proposed to me on the 27th. We had gone to the temple to do baptisms and then he took me to my favorite cupcake shop in the world. With our cupcakes, we went up on a hill overlooking St. George to eat dinner and of course, our cupcakes. Well he had put my ring on top of my cupcake and I was absolutely in shock when I saw it. He then played Marry Me by Train on his phone and asked me to dance, but I was too in shock to even move, so we just sat there instead and when the song was over, he stood me up, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Obviously I said yes :)
February 2010 - I really remember like nothing from February so moving on...
March 2010 - Spring break! Loved it! Talls was able to come home with me for a weekend and it was super fun hanging out with old friends and playing cards with my rents. By the way, I have the funnest and hippest parents on this planet!
April 2010 - I got a job! Well actually, I got it in March, but I really started getting into it in April. Good stuff. I also had my bridal shower over Easter break and Talls was able to go home with me then too.
May 2010 - Um... So I got married this month which I kinda think is a big deal yeah? Yeah. I also got to move out of a dorm for the last time! Ya! No more smeer lappen to battle with. Just an adorable husby to pick up after :) And on the 13th I took out my endowments. Then went on a honeymoon to SLC, or more correctly, temple square.
June 2010 - Worked, worked, and worked some more! Also got to go home for the Mormon Miracle Pageant which was near and dear to my heart and just an overall great experience. I highly recommend going if you have never gone before. It's life changing! Literally...
July - August 2010 - Can I just let you read my month in great detail? Too bad if not, cuz I will anyways. That is all.

Day 27: The Last Month, In Great Detail

Wow... A whole month to detail for you guys. I don't even remember last week, let alone last month. Well I guess we will do our best...

A month ago was obviously July 19th. I know that my birthday is on July 23rd and Talls and I took a trip to my home for it. From Talls I got a book, What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen (my fave author ever!!!), the movie Charly (tear jerker), and some coolio capsules that you put in water and they dissolve into sponges. My present from my mom was going to the Idols Live concert earlier in the month which was awesome! Plus a shopping spree that same trip. And my dad gave me what my dad typically gives... a squash, a cucumber, some food to add to my food storage, plus an amazing guitar tuner! and an iTunes gift card. Thanks all!
My birthday is awfully close to the 24th of July which just happened to be on a Sunday this year so it got celebrated on my birthday. That was fun getting to do the local town celebration of a parade and a celebration at the park. I don't think Talls was expecting much since the town I grew up in has about 500 people versus his 30,000, but he was pleasantly surprised. I also baked an awesome birthday cake for myself and put some rubber duckies on top which are now sitting in my shower. I also got a birthday balloon which blew up on the way home scaring everyone in the car. Great fun.
The last Sunday in July, Talls and I had to speak in sacrament on priesthood leadership and given it was my first ever sacrament talk, I think I did pretty well. In fact I went to the dentist today and my hygienist is a girl in my ward and she told me that she enjoyed our talks, especially the part when I elaborated on how Talls and I met and his stalkerish ways... Mwahahaha...
August 8th, 9th, and 10th, buddy and I took a nice mini vacay up to the SLC area to go to Thanksgiving Point, Lagoon, and Temple Square. Thanksgiving Point was good and the gardens were gorgeous (but hot). We both decided that we need to get Talls mom up there cuz she just loves gardening so she could easily spend a whole day there enjoying the gorgeous flowers and stuff. Lagoon was also a blast. It was fun watching Talls get all worked up over the roller coasters. For me, Lagoon began to loose its appeal the first time I went to Disneyland, but Talls has only spent a couple of hours in Disneyland and he had only been to Lagoon approx 3 times before I went with him so he was like a little kid in a candy shop. Too cute! The best part about it all was the fact that the lines were way short. Like max wait time = 20 minutes. Average was probably 5-10 which was great other than the fact that I can get motion sick sometimes and going on that many rides in the heat eventually did me in. Temple Square was also great, but that is in my week detail.
There is so much I am leaving out, but I'm honestly getting tired of these 30 days of posts. I have no idea how I'm supposed to tackle a whole year in detail. Whew... May have to take a break before getting to that one...

Day 26: Your Week In Great Detail

This should be a bit more exciting than my day in detail, but not by much...
Wednesday - This was the last day of a trip buddy and I had gone on. This day we decided to go to temple square and attend an endowment session along with visiting some of the buildings we didn't make it to while on our honeymoon. That temple has the prettiest celestial room ever! Granted I have only been in two other temples, but still. Gorgeous! We had lunch at the Olive Garden which was delicious and we had the coolest waitress. She was awesome! Maybe she was just working for a good tip, but she deserved one thats for sure. Then we went back and toured the Church History Museum which was really cool and then stalked some brides before we had to leave at 5 to go have dinner with one of his friends in Roy. I had never met her or her husband but they were really fun to hang out with for a couple of hours before we headed home. We got out of there a little before nine and with construction and all, it took us a little over 5 hours to get home. It was such a struggle to stay awake but we made it and it was worth it!
Thursday - I don't really remember much about this day except buddy didn't have to do a whole lot of working and so we got to hang out a bit. what we did exactly I don't recall although I do know we went grocery shopping.
Friday - One of my good friends from high school was having her bridal shower this day so I made the 2 hour trek home to celebrate with her. It was a great shower and I even won at two of the games... famous partners & bingo (I got blackout first). I was also able to visit my daddy which was good. Friday nights are usually our date nights so we just had a nice game night and played some Racko and Mancala and Connect 4. Buddy also let me do his makeup... haha... It was a very good makeup job though. If only it had been on a girl... After we played our games we walked down to McDonalds (with buddy's makeup still on) and got some kiddie cones. It was fabulous.
Saturday - Buddy didn't have to work much this day either so we played some more games in the morning and then cleaned during the afternoon. I was able to tackle our study room which has been driving me bonkers ever since he got all of his stuff moved in and cluttered everything up with random books and papers. It was bad, but now you can actually see our desks and I love it! That night was the Miss Iron County pageant which we went to because A) I love pageants and B) One of my roomies was competing (she took 1st attendant! Yeah! Go Emilee!). It was Tall's first pageant and he actually enjoyed it which makes me happy cuz that means I can take him to more :) After the pageant we came home and hip hopped it up before bed time.
Sunday - Right before we went to bed Saturday night, Talls got a call from his little sister saying that their mom had been injured in a hike earlier that day and wouldn't be able to play the piano in sacrament so buddy had to cover for her. We also had a farewell to go to for one of his friends. When we came home, we had a lovely and adventurous lunch for our third month anniversary (details of that are contained in day 24's post). After that I don't remember much of what happened that day although I'm sure it was great.
Monday - I went back to work after a week off for my last 40 hour work week before school starts! Yay! And we had a great FHE lesson that night and other than that, I also don't remember much from that day.
Yesterday - Another work day, which was detailed in yesterday's post. For those of you wondering (for the one of you who is actually reading this and maybe wondering) I did go get my haircut by possibly the cutest and nicest beautician working for any great clips anywhere! and then went home, made dinner, and buddy didn't go to ultimate frisbee so we watched Love Happens instead.
Yup... that's my week.

Day 25: Your Day In Detail

Ready for a boring story? Here goes...
6:45 - Unwillingly wake up to my alarm and try to wake up the husby who always sets his alarm for like an hour before he actually wakes up.
7:00 - Eat breakfast. I had a bowl of frosted mini wheats that I discovered have more protein and fiber in them than multi grain cheerios do.
7:15 - Took a nice hot shower to brush my teeth and wash my face (I had showered the night before) because my house was cold!
7:30-8:00 - Did my hair and makeup and, since I was running late, let the husby pick out my outfit for the day.
8:00 - This is where it gets boring.... Went to work. Where there was nothing to do. As always.
12:07 - Went on my lunch break. Finished writing a letter to Elder Warren, had some easy mac, mailed the letter to Elder Warren, got a new student ID, got a cool sticker to put on my student ID which will allow me to get into sporting events for free, and got a pack of M&Ms when I realized that easy mac probably wasn't enough to hold me over until dinner.
1:07 - Went back to work and sat here waiting and praying for something to do other than study a hugemongus accounting book and surf the web.
At approximately 5 o'clock I will close up shop, go to great clips where I will get a much needed trim and then venture home to make dinner. Depending on what the hubby chooses to do tonight, I will either make another fleece blanket to donate to Cantus! (if the husby decides to go play ultimate frisbee) or go on a walk with the husby (if the husby decides to eat dinner with me rather than play frisbee). At approximately 9:30 I will insist on turning in for the night, but we will have to do our scripture study first and cuddle and talk for a while so once again, I will get to bed anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half later than I desire. Isn't my life just so exciting? :)

Day 24: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

Oh buddy... If there was ever a story worthy of being a Talls & Smalls Adventure, its probably this one. So yesterday was our 3rd month anniversary. For our wedding someone gave us two champagne glasses with a bottle of sparkling cider (non-alcoholic of course) which we drank with a fancy dinner for our 1 month anniversary so its become sort of a tradition to have sparkling cider in those glasses every month on the 14th. The first month we had a fancy dinner at home and the second month we had a picnic. Well this month the 14th just happened to be a Sunday so I tried to think of Sabbath Day dates to go on and finally decided to hide out in a church after the block to have a packed lunch like we did pretty much every Sunday when we were engaged. However, that plan got disrupted by a messed up schedule blah blah blah so we were just having a normal lunch at home with our champagne glasses and everstuff when I had the brilliant idea of lighting a candle to make it a little more romantic. So we lit a candle and the mood was set, that is until buddy picked up a random paper towel and stuffed it in the candle. At first I was just like, "Buddy, what are you doing?" But then I plucked it out and it was flaming and I started yelling, "Buddy! Buddy!" There were ashes flying everywhere and a burning paper towel just sitting on our table. It wasn't long before our smoke alarms went off too. Buddy was poking at the flaming towel with a fork while I was debating on whether stomping on the ashes or throwing water on them would have a better effect. Finally, buddy got the towel stabbed by a fork and wanted to throw it in the garbage can which really is probably the stupidest thing you could do so I yelled at him for that too. His next idea was to take it outside but I wouldn't let him do that either so I grabbed a cup, filled it with water and stuffed the paper towel in it to listen to it sizzle. As we looked around, we noticed all the ashes that had littered our kitchen/living room and were just grateful we didn't set anything on fire. And then we laughed... and laughed... and laughed. It really was great! Just wouldn't have been if the house had caught on fire. The best part though is that we still have the cup with the paper towel inside and a note on top of it that reads, "In remembrance of the sparks that flew at our third month anniversary lunch". Oh yes, married life is great :)

Days 21, 22, and 23

So I'm just throwing this out there but... I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for two years today! Probably even about this exact minute, although I don't quite remember exactly when my baptismal service was, only that it was in the evening. Oh, and I pormise that the last few days of posts will go much smoother than the last week has because I will be at work where I have both the time and the fast internet connection to post. So anyways...

Day 21 <3 A Recipe

Here is a recipe for fettuccine alfredo that I stole out of a Betty Crocker cookbook. Everyone I feed it to loves it so I figured its a good one to share...

Ingredients:
8 oz uncooked fettuccine
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1/2 cup whipping cream
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp salt
dash of pepper

Directions:
1-Cook noodles in a dutch oven pan. While noodles are cooking, make sauce.
2-In a saucepan, heat the butter and whipping cream on low until butter is melted. Stir in the cheese, salt and pepper until mixture is smooth.
3-Drain the fettuccine and put back in dutch oven or serving bowl.
4-Pour sauce over noodles and stir until the fettuccine is well coated.

Super simple, just don't make the same mistake I did the first time I tried to make this. I was young and innocent and didn't know that there was more than just cool whip whipping cream out there so yes... I tried to make this with cool whip. Not exactly the best result I must say. :)

Day 22 <3 A Website

There is a website I have recently become obsessed with called pinterest. It is so great for a girl like me who loves to shop online and surf the web because it allows you to pin and organize all the products and ideas you like in a neat and organized fashion which you get to share with others and they can either like it or repin it to their own respective boards. It's great! Here is a link to one of my boards...

Day 23 <3 A You Tube Video

Oh all the great ones I could go with, but when it comes right down to it and people ask me to share my favorite video at a youtube party, it always comes back to this one. Every time.

So stupid, but I <3 it! :)

Days 15-20

Since we have been on vacation, I am seriously behind on posting so here comes 6 days worth of posts...

Day 15 <3 Favorite Game

My step-dads family has a family game that I feel obligated to put here which is... Progressive Rummy! Super fun! But recently I have also become relatively obsessed with Apples to Apples... Also super amazing! And the more people you have for both, the better.

Day 16 <3 A Song That Makes You Cry (or nearly)

This really depends on the day but when I was little it was unquestionably Holes in the Floor of Heaven. The link to the youtube video is here...

Day 17 <3 An Art Piece

I'm not sure what the name of this painting is but it was done by Harry Anderson. It means more to me than I can even put into words, but the power of the atonement is so shown and felt in it and it means so much to me because the atonement has changed my life and made me into the person I am today. There is no subject I have ever studied that has brought me closer to my Savior than the atonement and learning about it is always a very special spiritual experience.

Day 18 <3 Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

So as I mentioned we have been on vacation for the past 3 days. Talls and I went up to SLC to go to Lagoon and Thanksgiving Point and Temple Square. My favorite part was probably playing one of the boardwalk games in Lagoon and winning a cute dolphin I have affectionately named Oscar. The object of the game is to have the person guess your age within 2 years and I was confident in my ability to win because people often think I'm about 15. She guessed me at 17 so I got her by one year and got a dolphin out of the deal. Awesomeness! The temple was also great and the SLC temple has the prettiest celestial room I have seen thus far. Buddies favorite part was just spending time with me. We ate dinner with one of his friends last night in Roy and didn't get home until after 2 in the morning though so we are definitely just bumming it up today. Its great stuff.

Day 19 <3 A Talent of Yours

Um... refer to Day 11. That picture tells all.

Day 20 <3 A Hobby of Yours

Um... refer to Day 11 also. I know its a talent, but its also a hobby.. Music is the correct answer to both of these questions.

Day 14: A NonFictional Book

As a HumbleObedientTempleworthy member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, what else would I put here but...
and then of course... testimony time! In Moroni 10:3-5, the prophet Moroni says, "Behold, would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would rmemeber how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
I have followed this scripture and have prayed to know if the Book of Mormon is indeed true and through the testifying power of the Holy Ghost, I know without a shadow of a doubt that it is. If this book is true, and I know that it is, then it means that the rest of the doctrines taught in the LDS church must be true also. That Joseph Smith was a true prophet called to restore the true church to the Earth and that President Thomas S. Monson currently guides the church today. It means that the priesthood power has been restored to the Earth and that through it we can repent, be baptized and confirmed, and receive all the saving ordinances of the temple in order to live with our families forever. If you would like to learn more about this faith, you can check out the official church websites at www.mormon.org and www.lds.org

Day 13: Fictional Book

So this is the book I am currently reading... What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen. I love Sarah Dessen and I have all but two of her books to date. Probably my favorite thing about her is how she takes elements from other books she has written and puts them into her newer books. Nothing major, just a character here or a town there. Its fun as an avid reader to pick those out. This book is about a girl whose parents seemed to have a picture perfect marriage until her mom left, got remarried and had twins. Mclean feels like she has been replaced and so struggles with her relationship with her mother. She is also involved in trying to figure out who she really is. Her dad moves around a lot for work and she moves with him. To every new school she attends, she uses a different version of her middle name 'Elizabeth' to create a new alias for herself from peppy rah rah to drama queen. Sarah Dessen is such a good teen writer and so good at creating realistic characters with realistic problems to which readers can easily connect.

Day 12: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

So this morning, I ate a bowl of lucky charms. Standard right? Wrong! They have added new colors to the shooting star marshmallows so now there is green and blue and pink and another color I can't quite remember. Weird right? But I kinda like it...

On Sunday, buddy and I gave talks in sacrament. Our topic was on the restoration of the priesthood: priesthood leadership and the blessings that come from it. It was my first ever sacrament talk, but I think I did well considering. Buddy did very well too and we had a lot of people tell us that they enjoyed our talks which made our feel goods feel real good!

Friday night we were also able to go up to a ward campout. We couldn't stay overnight because buddy had to go to work early Saturday morning but we were able to go and get to know a few couples in our ward a little bit better which was excelent. It's been really hard for me to feel like I fit into a married ward when all I have known thus far have been singles wards. I just feel to young and immature to mingle with such awesome yet older married sisters, but I'm learning that there are some really nice sisters there who I could potentially be friends with.

Thats about it for Talls & Smalls updates. Now go enjoy those new colored marshmallows. Awesome sauce!

Days 9, 10, and 11

Day 9 <3 A Photo You Took

I totally have periods in my life where I desire to be a photographer. Those moments in life usually wear off relatively quickly. Here are my top three favorites that I have taken (and have readily available).
Flower near Rifle Falls, CO

Monrovian Park

Day 10 <3 A Photo of You Taken Over 10 Years Ago

As I am 2 hours away from all my old pictures, this one will have to go TBA for now.

Day 11 <3 A Photo of You Taken Recently

One of my favorite past times...Dec. 2010
